WPCP supports Gamcare statement of support for gamblers

WPCP provides counselling for anyone who is experiencing difficulties resulting from a gambling problem – including partners and family members. The service is confidential and abides by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Ethics and Practice.

When you have problems or are in distress it can help to talk to somebody. Speaking to a trained counsellor will enable you to discuss aspects of your past and present life which may be relevant to your gambling problem in a safe environment over a period of time. Your counsellor will not tell you what to do or give advice, but will help you explore and reflect on your life and relationships. A better understanding of your situation can help you develop your own choices and a way forward.

The main aims of our counselling are:

To help stop or reduce the frequency of problem gambling.

To help develop ways of coping with problem gambling behaviour.

To help understand some of the underlying reasons why gambling has become a problem.

To help address related issues that are causing harm or damage.

To help develop a productive and healthy life without problem gambling.
